Minutes 1 to 3: gel on the skin. No radiation, no dye, nothing goes into you and nothing gets injected.
This is the imaging kind of ultrasound, not the heating kind. A live look at the tendon or joint while you move it, right here in the room, so your plan starts from something we can both see.
What It Is
This one is imaging. A licensed physical therapist moves a probe over gel on your skin, and the tissue underneath shows up live on a screen turned so you can watch it too.
What makes it useful is that nothing has to hold still. We can watch the tendon glide while you lift. We can check the sore side against the good side in the same minute. Swelling, thickening, a tendon that catches on the way up: those show themselves while you move, and what shows up shapes the plan before you leave.
Two honest limits, said out loud. This is not the therapeutic ultrasound that puts heat into tissue, that is a separate service here and it treats rather than looks. And this does not replace an MRI or a radiologist’s report. Sound does not see through bone, a formal read is a physician’s job, and if your case needs one we say so instead of working around it.
Always optional, never sprung on you
What It Helps
You are the one who tells everybody else to go get it looked at. Yours has had six months to think about it. Another few months of treating the wrong structure costs more than the visit ever would.
What A Session Looks Like
1
Minutes 1 to 3: gel on the skin. No radiation, no dye, nothing goes into you and nothing gets injected.
2
Minutes 3 to 10: the probe moves while you lift, bend, or turn. You watch the screen along with us. If the area is sore, we ease off.
3
Then we tell you what we saw in plain words, before you leave the room, and what it changes about your plan.
Why It Works
A plan built on what is there, not on what it might be.
You finally see the thing you have been describing for months.
Progress you can look at again later and compare.
Fewer weeks spent rehabbing the wrong structure.
Pairs Well With
Questions, Answered
No to both. Ultrasound therapy is a treatment that warms deep tissue and produces no picture at all, and it is a separate service here. This one only looks. It is also not a substitute for an MRI or for a radiologist’s report. Sound cannot see through bone, a formal read belongs to a physician, and there are findings this simply will not show. What it does well is give a licensed physical therapist a live look at soft tissue while you move, in the room, on the day.
It does not hurt. Nothing enters your body, there is no radiation, and no dye is involved. You feel cool gel and light pressure from the probe, and if the spot is tender we ease off or work around it. Because it is safe to repeat, most people are scanned once early on and then again only if something changes or your progress stalls. It happens inside a visit you were already having, so it does not add appointments to your plan.
