What We Treat

Chronic Pain treatment in University Heights.

Months of this. Maybe years. You have been told to rest it, manage it, live with it. Nobody went looking for what keeps setting it off. That search is where we start.

Pain past three months Flare-up cycles Told to live with it Schedule Appointment

Sound Familiar?

Does any of this sound like your year?

  • A good day, a normal amount of doing, and three days of paying for it
  • Flare-ups you can feel coming, but can never trace back to a reason
  • Telling the whole story to one more provider, and hearing that the scan looked fine
  • Waking at 3am because you rolled onto the wrong side in your sleep
  • Saying yes to your kid, then quietly working out how you’ll get through it
  • A shrinking list of things you still do, that you never actually decided to stop

Two or more? You’re not imagining it. Keep reading.

Why It Happens

Pain that stays has a reason. Nobody has found yours yet.

Pain is an alarm system, not a damage meter. When an alarm runs for months, the system gets better at running it. The nerves carrying the signal turn more sensitive, so less pressure sets them off. That is a real, physical change in how the signal travels. It is not you being dramatic, and it is not a scan that missed something.

Then everything else piles on top. You guard the sore area, so the muscles around it quietly weaken. You move less, so an ordinary day costs more than it used to. Sleep breaks up, which lowers your tolerance again by morning. A cause-first evaluation separates those threads: what is irritated, what got weak, what keeps reloading it. Then we work on the ones that will actually move.

The Honest Truth

Waiting is the one thing you’ve already tried.

If you keep waiting

  • The list of things you avoid keeps growing, one small thing at a time
  • The muscles that would share the load keep weakening, so normal days cost more
  • A sensitized system needs less and less to set it off, so flare-ups come easier

If you start this week

  • Someone finally maps what is driving it, in visit one, in plain language
  • Movement gets dosed at a level that doesn’t flare you, then built up from there
  • You get a plan with an endpoint, and you always know which phase you’re in

You stopped mentioning it, because mentioning it never changed anything. That’s exactly why nobody has looked properly yet. And exactly why you’re reading this.

How We Fix It

Four phases. Paced for a body that flares.

Every plan has an endpoint. Here’s what the four phases look like when pain has been around a long time.

Weeks 1–2

Pain

Turn the volume down.

Hands-on work and gently dosed movement settle the most irritable tissue, so the alarm system has less to shout about.

Weeks 2–6

Prime

Get motion back without paying for it.

We find the range you own today, then widen it in steps small enough that your body doesn’t flare on the way through.

Weeks 6–10

Perform

Build load you can trust again.

Graded strength work, added in increments you can repeat, so a good day stops costing you the three days after it.

Weeks 10+

Prevent

Know what to do when it stirs.

You leave with a flare-up plan, a way to keep progressing on your own, and the reasoning behind both. That’s the endpoint, not another appointment.

Questions, Answered

What people ask before booking for chronic pain.

That happens, and it is worth taking seriously rather than explaining away. A course of therapy can miss for ordinary reasons. The wrong driver got treated. The exercises were dosed for a fresh injury and flared a sensitized one. Or you spent the hour sharing a therapist with two other people. Here you start over with a cause-first evaluation, one-on-one with a licensed physical therapist, every visit. If we find something we cannot help with, we will say so and point you somewhere better.

No. Every pain you have ever felt is produced by your nervous system, and that is as true of a broken bone as it is of pain that has lasted years. When the alarm runs for months, the system carrying it gets more sensitive, so smaller things set it off. That is a physical change, not an imagined one, and it is a large part of what we work on. Nobody here is going to tell you to relax and wait it out.

Three things, mostly. We go looking for what is driving the pain instead of treating the spot that hurts. You work one-on-one with a licensed physical therapist, every visit, so the dose gets adjusted the day it needs adjusting. And you get a plan with an endpoint across four phases, Pain, Prime, Perform and Prevent, so you always know where you are in it. We will not promise you a cure. We will tell you what we find and what we can change.
