Custom Foot Orthotics in University Heights.

Every step you take lands on the same problem. Support built from your own foot changes what the ground does to you, so the rest of the plan can hold.

What It Is

Built from your foot. Not off a shelf.

A custom orthotic starts with an impression of your actual foot. We either cast it in a foam box or capture it with a scan, held in the position the foot should be working from rather than the one it collapses into. That impression, plus what we saw when you walked, is what the device gets built on.

The goal is not arch support for its own sake. It is control. The orthotic decides where your foot is allowed to move and where it is not, at the moment in your step when it matters, so the heel, knee and hip stop compensating for a foot that rolls in at the wrong time.

An insert from the store is not a bad thing. It is cushioning shaped for an average foot, and for plenty of people that is genuinely enough. A custom orthotic differs in one specific way: it is made to the shape of your foot and to what your gait evaluation showed. If the insert you already own is doing the job, we will tell you to keep wearing it.

What It Helps

When the ground is the problem.

You are on your feet all day for everybody else. The shoes get replaced, the pain does not, and somehow there is never a good week to deal with it.

What A Session Looks Like

What the fitting visit holds.

1

We watch you walk before we look at the foot. The foot is only half the story. The knee and the hip tell the rest of it.

2

Then we take the impression, in a foam box or with a scan. It takes a few minutes and none of it hurts.

3

When they arrive we fit them, watch you walk again and adjust. You break them in slowly, an hour or two a day at first.

Why It Works

Four things the right support gives back.

Mornings stop starting with the worst ten steps.

You get through a full day on your feet.

The knee and hip stop paying for the foot.

What we fix in the clinic holds between visits.

Questions, Answered

Custom Foot Orthotics, straight answers.

Taking the impression is easy. You sit or stand while the foot is captured in a foam box or on a scanner, and it is over in a few minutes. The break-in is the part people actually ask about. New orthotics feel like something is under your foot, because something is. We start you at an hour or two a day and build up from there, and a licensed physical therapist checks the fit and adjusts them if a spot is rubbing. They should never hurt. If they do, bring them back and we change them.

Because they are built from an impression of your foot and from what your gait evaluation actually showed, and because the work does not end when they arrive. They get fitted, checked against how you walk, and adjusted until they are right. It is also worth being clear about what you are buying here. This is a plan with an endpoint, not a shelf you keep buying from every few months while the real problem stays where it is. And if a store insert would do the same job for you, we will say so before you spend anything.
